Art Reflection :p

In our previous lesson in art we focused on synthanasia. Synthanasia is when you feel a surface and draw what it feels like. To do this we took turns and using a big box, which had lots of drawers, of which had all different surfaces inside, we felt 5 of them and then drew on one piece of black paper how it felt with a white pencil. To make it look better we had to oin them together and then using a separate colour we tried to separate lines and make some seem to pop out. It was a lot of fun and I can`t wait to see what we will do next lesson!!! :)

Rangoli Reflection

This term we have been learning about Rangoli and have even made a giant one in Reeves courtyard. It was a lot of fun making it. To make it we all had to get into groups of three or four and pick a certain small area to work in. My partners Sarah, Bridget and I chose to work on a small outer area of the Rangoli. Traditionally, rangoli are about building a sense of community and I believe this is true as all of year 7 had to work as a team to build it.The main colours my group and I used were warm colours like red, pink and yellow. The mini rangoli we made had lots of circles that went around each other and we made sure that it was perfectly symmetrical. The lines we used were more curved than straight and the pattern was pink, red and yellow in that order. In was a lot of fun making the Rangoli as we could be creative and also talk to friends and get to know people better. I believe that the rangoli looked very good in the end as it was very colourful but it definetly wasn`t very symmetrical. The best section of the rangoli would probably be the middle as it attracts the most attention compliments the rangoli the most of all sections.

Sally Harrison!

Sally Harrison is a well known aboriginal heritage painter. She paints amazing wonderful paintings! She has previously had her work showcased in eight exhibitions. Also she has two solo exhibitions. She took up dot painting in 1992 to come to terms as a aboriginal and one of the "Stolen" Generation".

She has previously accepted The Bremer Institute of TAFE Special Achievement Award, 2003 and in 2006 The Best of Show Ipswich Art Awards.

Our school had the honour of actually working with her and she was an incredible person. She was positive, kind hearted, creative and she didin't care what people thought of her paintings.

She is truly a good role model for those who wish to become an artist one day.

Sally Harrison's 'The Hideway'

Sally Harrison "The Hideway"

This painting was created by Sally Harrison. It is called "The Hideway". I believe it is very beautiful and it looks peaceful and quiet. I Think she first painted the background of the picture, then painted things in the front and then finally dotted the plants and sky for a 3D effect!

I think she purposly used colours that make you feel a bit more soothed. I say this because when I see this picture I think of having a nap. Not because it is boring but because it reminds me of sleeping in the sun in the garden in peace and quiet.

I believe the story behind this is a little house in the bush with flowers and a beautiful garden that she may have lived in or seen before. She may have grown up here or this may be her or a friend's house!
